What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) defined means Universal Life Force Energy
or spiritually guided life force energy. This healing method came
to America in 1938 from Japan. This is a hands on healing therapy
that focuses on relaxation and stress reduction. It also promotes
healing, it is complementary with medical treatments, and can be
combined with just about any healing method. Reiki can never cause
harm, since it comes from the Divine. Reiki healing will always
go where it is most needed. At the same time, Reiki is both powerful
and gentle. It can help people to get past blocks in their life,
whether they are health or emotion related. It is non-denominational;
it is complementary with any religion or creed. Reiki is a gentle
touch, not heavy pressure or movement. It promotes from within feelings
of goodwill, peace, serenity, compassion, and love. Having Reiki
performed on you will invite the Divine to fill you and heal you.
REI – Japanese for universal or spiritual consciousness/wisdom
(God consciousness) or a higher dimension of light and the soul.
Considered God, Brahman, Allah, etc. and here simply the Divine.
KI – Japanese for vital life force energy, which animates
everything; also call Prana, Mana, Holy Ghost, Chi, etc.
Why should I have Reiki Done on me?
Heals cause, eliminates effects of imbalance
Does not conflict with religious beliefs
Is a complementary, natural healing and helping method
Can be combined with other healing methods
Minimizes feelings of helplessness when faced with a crisis situation
Releases accumulated daily stress
It is an intelligent energy that goes to the greatest need
Reiki does not interfere with medical treatments; it enhances medications,
quickens healing time, and can reduce need for anesthetic
What is a Reiki session?
A Reiki session is usually performed in your home or business (if
permissible). It is a fully clothed, hands on healing. It begins
with a conversation (either over the phone or before the session)
in which we talk about the your goals and needs. After a mutual
understanding has been reached, and a client bill of rights has
been signed, the session begins. Using my hands, I will go over
the major Chakras and particular places causing trouble or that
need the attention. You may feel a warmth or tingling, some feel
a chill, it all depends on your own response to the therapy. Either
way, you should begin to feel relaxed and at peace (something very
rare in our society today). You may even gain a new insight or calm
about the chaotic parts of your life. Please note that it may take
more than one session to get through some imbalances, due to severity
and duration of the imbalance.
How did you become a Reiki practioner?
I trained with Susan H. Aguirre at the Reflectory
in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It was text, hands on, and lecture. I
am currently a Level 1 practioner, and plan to continue my education
in Reiki.
How much does a Reiki session cost?
I generally charge forty dollars for a session. A session will last
forty-five minutes to an hour. However, if you would like longer
than that, we can make arrangements. It is acceptable to purchase
more than one session at a time, as a package, or give them as gifts.
I do, however, request that I be given at least three hours notice
of Cancellation, though 24 hours is preferred. I may not raise my
fees without giving you a thirty day notice. The mileage fees will
be similar to those for my Equine
Sports Massage sessions. If you would like to offer Reiki treatments
at your event, please contact me.
“There is a light in this world . . . a healing spirit
much stronger than any darkness we may encounter. We sometimes
lose sight of this force . . . where there is suffering, too much
pain. And suddenly, the spirit will emerge . . . through the lives
of ordinary people, and answer in extraordinary ways. God speaks
in the silence of the heart and we will listen.”
Mother Teresa
* A note about Reiki and my Equine
Sports Massage Therapy – Reiki is incorporated throughout
the massage session (and included in the price). However, if there
are particular areas you would like me to focus on, or would like
me to spend time exclusively doing Reiki, we can make arrangements.
